The RVC Men’s Football Club has two teams, catering for members of all abilities, so anyone and everyone is welcome! As the largest men’s club, it’s a great opportunity to meet likeminded people across all years and enjoy the beautiful game at the same time.
Success was enjoyed by both teams last season, with the 1st team winning two league titles, the prestigious VIFA Cup (Veterinary TeamInternational Football Association) and finishing off the season by claiming the RVC Team of the Year award, whilst the 2nd team finishing both leagues in the strongest position for a number of years, narrowly missing out on promotion.
With a busy football calendar, training or matches take place most Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Both teams are members of the BUCS (British University’s and College Sports) LUSL (London University Sports League), playing games against other London university’s around the capital both home and away, providing some fierce rivalry - especially with the medics! Annual high profile matches within the club also include the famous Camden vs Hawkshead match, and RVCFC vs RVC Old Boys (RVCFC graduates), the latter providing an invaluable opportunity for networking in the veterinary community.
Home matches are played on the sports fields at the Hawkshead campus, providing a great opportunity for 1st and 2ndyears to get out to Potters Bar early on and find your way around. The season is wrapped up long before end of year exams so it will not interfere with your studies.
Off the pitch, we have a fantastic social scene within the club, including nights out in London and Potters Bar, as well as an annual football tour to a multitude of European destinations, where we challenge other European Vet Schools.
So whether you are new to the RVC or already a higher year student and fancy giving it a go, whatever your ability, we would love to welcome you to the RVC Men’s Football Club.
